What Needed Solving?
Converting an arbitrary user-uploaded photo into a practical, human-readable craft pattern requires far more than pixelation. It demands intelligent color quantization (up to 50 colors and 100 complexity levels), standard thread code mapping, stitch counting, and generating high-precision multi-page PDF charts with symbols and coordinate grids.
How We Built It
We built PatternCrafts with a custom image-processing and PDF layout engine. When a user uploads an image and configures dimensions, color limits, and complexity, the system computes a 10,000-point grid, maps each cell to standard thread codes and distinct symbols, estimates material usage, and dynamically renders a comprehensive multi-page PDF instruction booklet.
